Certified Organic, in focus

In light of ‘Australian Organic Awareness month’, September has been all about raising awareness for Certified Organic products, brands and businesses. An opportunity to understand the incredible value of Certified Organic products. Something which we support whole-heartedly as a brand committed to truth within labelling.

As we round out this month of focus for the organic industry, we want to share what Certified Organic ultimately means for the products we formulate and ingredients we work with on a daily basis.  And, in turn, what it means to you.

The Organic Difference

The term ‘Certified Organic’ means the farm where the ingredients have been sourced from are tested and approved by an independent third-party certification body. They are grown and processed without synthetic chemicals, pesticides, fertilisers or GMOs. This rigorous process guarantees that products/ingredients are genuinely Organic.

The process is not limited to the farm – but also includes how a product is managed by us – everything from manufacturing to handling, quality control checks and storage. This requires fastidious attention, and systems and processes of the strictest standard, along with rigorous and regular checks.  So it is more than chemical free – the entire process, from farm-to-face if you like, is governed – soil, plants, environment, people and product.

At organicspa, we’re committed to providing our customers with the highest quality ingredients while maintaining full authenticity and transparency. Our products are certified with either the ACO (Australian Certified Organic) or the USDA (USA’s national organic program), both of which are independent governments audited bodies.

These certification bodies are represented by the logos seen on all types of Certified Organic products. Unfortunately, due to the lack of regulation in Australia, brands/products often greenwash – claiming organic ingredients without validation – making these logos very useful for those seeking organic integrity.

Where do we stand at organicspa?

The content of our entire organicspa collection has a minimum of 70% Certified Organic ingredients and many have over 95%.  All other ingredients are 100% naturally derived.

Why is this important?

Our skin is our largest organ and what we put on to our skin is absorbed into the body, and can affect our overall health – whether we are aware of it or not.

The synthetic ingredients found in non-organic products may be fast-acting, but they are also extremely invasive. These ingredients can be the cause of reactions, redness, sensitivities and also cause harm that cannot be seen  (ie acting as endocrine disruptors, impacting hormone synthesis and a long tail of health, particularly reproductive and immune system issues). Choosing Certified Organic helps to eliminate unnecessary ingredients, creating a safe, effective product for your skin, the planet and your wellbeing.

We are proud to exclude the following ingredients from all our formulations;

  • NO Mineral Oil
  • NO Silicones
  • NO Synthetic Parabens
  • NO PEG
  • NO SLES or SLS
  • NO ALES
  • NO Fragrance
  • NO Phthalates
  • NO GMO
  • NO Petrochemicals
  • NO Artificial Colours
  • NO Propylene Glycol
  • NO Ethanolamines
  • NO Polycyclic Musks
  • NO Synthetic Retinol
  • NO Synthetic Dye
  • NO Animal by-products
  • NO Animal testing
  • NO Nature identical
  • NO Chemical Synthesised Sunscreens
  • NO Polysorbates
  • NO Petrolatum / Paraffin Wax

In fact, this puts us ahead in current world certification standards, as other governing bodies are open to allowing synthetic or nature-identical raw materials into their skincare products.

Organic vs Effective

While we place high importance on Certified Organic content, this has never compromised the efficacy of our range. We developed organicspa with a result-driven focus, using key organic ingredients with proven scientific benefits to the skin. organicspa  demystifies the myth that luxury and effectiveness cannot be achieved through nature.  organicspa does both.
